It gets longer for most. I can't tell you how many times the Mellencamp line "Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone" has occurred to me. But feeling its brevity is a good thing--it insists that you not waste your time, to get something done before you evaporate.
Death by evaporation? Not sure that's a route I'd like to take. That line strongly reminds me of old people in nursing homes. Don't let the cat sleep next to you, it's an indicator of something. (death)
